General Blog, Work Grind

So it’s been a while…

I can definitely say that it’s been a while since I’ve written anything on these pages. Maybe is has to do with the fact that my job (intern as a baker) requires me to get up at 2:20am (yes in the morning!) to be clocked in by 3am. The constant tiredness certainly puts a drain on any creative juices. And for that matter pretty much every other part of my life.

I’ve tried sucking it and drinking copious amounts of coffee. That only seems to make my heart rate faster and does nothing to increase my level of awakeness. Napping during the day doesn’t work all that well either since then I can’t fall asleep at night.

People who work early morning or overnight jobs and can maintain some level of sanity and life outside work, you are amazing and please tell me your secrets.

I think the only life saver here is that the job (internship) is nearly over, so I just have to suck it up for a week or so more. Hopefully it will allow me to find another not as straining job and catch up on some much needed sleep.

Some how when I started this job I thought I’d be able to handle it. That by finished at 11 in the morning I’d have the rest of the day to be productive and get shit done. Funny how reality can be so different from the world we form in our heads. Most days I barely have the energy to pick a decent show to watch on Netflix.

As rewarding as the internship has been, I am looking forward to a change of pace. Working in a bakery setting I’ve learned so much about the finer points of baking on a large scale and have had the chance to create (and try) some really delicious baked goods. I love the work, I love being busy for the whole 8 hour shift.

What my days off and afternoons have looked like…. coffee, bowls of sugary cereal and Netflix

So moving forward from this job, I hope to post more. I hope to share some really exciting plans and maybe actually get that goal I had of writing 100 blog posts this year.

Here’s to reality looking a bit closer to the visions in my head!
